Thank You, Beijing

I just finished watching the Olympic closing ceremonies and am in complete awe.
NBC highlighted some of the most amazing athletic feats of the last two weeks. I cried. Again. I was a runner in high school and nothing fills a soul with more adrenalin than rounding the curve of a 200 meter race.Â
Thank you, Beijing.
Thank you for putting together 17 spectacular days of joy, pride, unity and sportsmanship. Thank you for bringing me back to my high school track in Michigan. I didn’t get to be an Olympian, but I got a little bit closer this week.
I’ll be watching just as closely when London brings us more joy in 2012 and hope to be on that track as a spectator if Chicago has the fortune of hosting in 2016.
Then again, I could always shoot for being a 40 year old member of the U.S. Track Team?
